Learning Double-Entry Bookkeeping with GnuCash

Of all the things I wanted to learn when starting up a game development company, double-entry bookkeeping was not at the top of the list. Then, I had to do our taxes.
Now I’m all on-board with doing the accounting thing properly, instead of recording everything in a Google spreadsheet and sorting it out in January. About the time I realized this necessity, I saw that March’s Community Choice Project of the Month over at SourceForge.net is GnuCash. The program is free and, if you choose a default Business account structure, forces you to implement the best practices. You can grab it via your favorite package manager or directly from gnucash.org.
