I’m a Stranger Here Myself

And so, gentle reader, you find yourself perusing this post, and wondering: Is there really more than one of these people? Are they a video game company or a tabletop game company? What is the average flight speed of an unladen swallow? What does “Strangeland Games” mean?

Well, we can answer some of your questions. I’d call this an FAQ except we’re a very small company and nobody has actually asked us any questions ever.

What does “Strangeland Games” mean anyway?

That’s easy. We are named after the novel Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein. That makes us strangers, so no more questions about who we are individually.

Who are you guys, individually?

Seriously?

Are you a video game company or a tabletop game company?

Yes. While at the time of this writing our primary two projects in development are of the Tabletop persuasion, we have also dabbled in video games, specifically for the PC/Linux set, and may release one one day.

What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

You have to know these things when you’re a king, you know. And we’re guessing you aren’t one.

What’s with the reviews of other people’s games?

We thought it might be a good way to introduce you, our future super fans, to our tastes and preferences in the areas we’re developing in. That way, you have a sense of what our games might be like.

You keep saying “we.” Isn’t there just one of you? Really?

Nope. At various times in the past, no fewer than four individuals have identified themselves as members of the Strangeland team. Right now there’s mainly  two of us working on the first couple of tabletop games.

Tell me about the company’s history.

That wasn’t a question. But we’ll answer it anyway. It was thought up in 2009, when some of the people involved were working together in a game development shop that was going through some rather drastic and painful staff reductions. Although we haven’t accomplished much in our first five years aside from meeting occasionally to drink beer and say things like “Yeah, we should make a game,” we are now going into this with some vigor, and our first tabletop game is mostly designed.

Mostly designed? So when’s the Kickstarter?

April of 2014, approximately. Thanks for asking. More details will be posted here as events warrant, of course.

What kind of beer do you like?

Again, thanks for asking. All kinds. When we’re not making games, we’re often making beer. Sometimes we do both at the same time.
